The Synopsis

Logline: A popular high school drug dealer must decide whether to face his tragic past and graduate or continue his dangerous reign.

Marvin, a popular high school drug dealer, is faced with a dilemma. Overcome his tragic past and graduate, or repeat his senior year and continue his dangerous reign of drugs, quick sex and fast money. A close friend tries to persuade him to do the right thing but Marvin’s torn.

125 Words or Less

Marvin, a popular, high school senior and drug dealer, is intoxicated by the flirtatious body language and smile of Jackie, a beautiful virgin. Her goal, getting a playful high. His goal, taking her virginity by fourth period. Darnell, Marvin’s best friend, learns of his plan to sleep with Jackie and tries to persuade him to do the right thing, but the temptation is too great for Marvin to resist. To ensure success, Marvin laces Jackie’s joint with a few aphrodisiacs, but the results are far from sexy. Jackie experiences unusual side effects from the weed and runs onto the football field, high. Horrified, Marvin bails and realizes his dangerous reign of drugs, quick sex and fast money may destroy his future.

Director's Words

I wasn't sure if this movie was going to happen. One Hot Joint was definitely a labor of love for all involved.

Looking back, we had to overcome the lack of funding, the fear of live Madagascar cockroaches, a last minute location change, the noise from a lawn mower, a threatening sprinkler system, an unpredictable air conditioning unit, an editing system upgrade/crash and more.

But please know that we are so excited about the final product because ultimately, it's all about the quality of the story and doing your best work.

We hope you enjoy our family oriented film.
